Kuwait is supporting the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with USD 3 million.

The money will be used to assist in the IAEA's initiative of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the Renewal Project for renewing the agency's eight Nuclear Applications Laboratories in Seibersdorf, Austria, and the Monaco Lab.

The Kuwaiti contribution reflects the country's belief in the importance of the IAEA work, Marafi told KUNA.
It also reiterates the strong cooperation between the IAEA and the concerned Kuwaiti bodies, the Ministry of Health, the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF).
For his part, the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano expressed his deep gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for the Kuwaiti contribution.
He also appreciated efforts by the Kuwaiti permanent delegation to the UN organizations in Vienna.
Meanwhile, the agency will soon endorse seven projects for cooperation with Kuwait for 2016-2017 in various fields that include improving the water production and efficiency for forage crops through nuclear techniques, and designing a comprehensive authorized program in Clinical Nuclear Medicine.
